VahanInfo ("we", "our", or "us") operates the VahanInfo mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle when you use the App and how we protect it.
Disclaimer: We are not associated with any state RTO or government body. The vehicle and license information shown in the App is publicly available data (e.g. on Parivahan/mParivahan, https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/). We only act as an intermediary to make this information easily accessible.
When you search, we process the vehicle registration number, driving license number, or challan (fine) lookup number you enter to fetch the requested details from publicly available sources. Results — and any vehicle/DL you bookmark, plus your theme and language preference — are stored only on your device.
The following data is collected automatically by third-party SDKs in the App, primarily for advertising and app stability:

We do NOT collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal identity; we do NOT collect your precise/GPS location (the App requests no location permission); and we do NOT access your photos, contacts, files, or storage. No account or login is required, and we do not store any user data on our own servers. (Ad networks may infer a coarse, country-level location from your IP for regional ad targeting only.)
The App integrates the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
The lookup numbers you enter are sent over an encrypted connection solely to fetch the requested public information. Owner/holder names are masked by default. We do not store this data on our servers.
The App shows ads from Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network, and ironSource / Unity LevelPlay, tried in order (waterfall) for each request. You can opt out of personalized ads from your device's Settings → Google → Ads.
Cache, search history, bookmarks, and preferences are stored on your device. You can clear them anytime from within the App (History, Profile, or Clear Cache), and uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. Crash logs are retained by Firebase for up to 90 days.

We do NOT request CAMERA, MICROPHONE, LOCATION, CONTACTS, or STORAGE permissions.
The App is intended for users aged 18 and above and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us.

For EEA users, we process data under GDPR based on consent (personalized ads — withdrawable via your ad settings), legitimate interest (crash reporting and analytics), and contract performance (providing the lookup service). You may access, rectify, delete, or port your data by contacting us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; changes are effective when posted, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect them.
